At TLO, we strive to ensure that your profile remains current and reflective of your latest achievements. Our scheduled update on the second Friday of each month integrates changes into our website from databases at MIT. In order to have your photo changed, please upload new photos before our updates run to see them reflected in the next update. Here’s what you need to know:
How to Submit Changes
You can update your photo through the MIT Atlas application or via the Atlas portal (Kerb Required) through your browser. Once updated there, it will automatically reflect in your TLO profile during our scheduled update. For detailed instructions, visit "Changing the photo on your MIT ID" via IS&Ts knowledge base.
Profile Photo Tips
To ensure your photo meets the necessary requirements, consider the following tips:
- Identification: Does your photo clearly identify you as a person?
- Camera Angle: Are you looking straight at the camera?
- Background: Is your background a solid, light color?
- Image Quality: Are you free from “red eye” or reflections?
- Visibility: Did you take off your hat or any garment that obstructs your face?
- Solo Photo: Is it a photo of just yourself?
Additional Best Practices
Here are some additional tips to ensure your profile photo is professional and suitable:
- Lighting: Use natural lighting or a well-lit room to avoid shadows on your face.
- Expression: Maintain a neutral expression or a slight smile to appear approachable.
- Clothing: Wear professional attire that reflects your role and industry standards.
- Resolution: Ensure the photo is high resolution to avoid pixelation.
Researcher Profiles
Researcher profiles include information about you as an MIT researcher, technologies available for license. Keeping your photo current aids in visibility and networking within the research community.
